There are myths like, plasma TV's should not be used for games
or viewing the pc
, are they true? You would think that watching
the BBC would be fine without worry!? Think again! Want to
understand the jargon
and the technical features?
Please read on. LCD and other modern TVs have so many pitfalls that can
lead to unsatisfactory viewing or malfunction,
I have known people high and dry with a £3000 useless, black
rectangle after 6 weeks. However, used with care a good one could last
a decade. Liquid Crystal

Sony Unveils A Cool 0.3mm
Thick Screen. An Investigation Into The Uses And The Technology Itself.
27th May 2007
Sony have very recently revealed this rather groovy 0.3mm x 2.5 inch
screen. The technologies behind it are Sony's organic thin
film
transistor, or TFT, technology, which
is required to make flexible displays, with another kind of technology
called organic electroluminescent display. The screen is so thin it
actually bends. Drop it! No problem it is so light it will not break.
What is probably most interesting is the range of applications which
the screen could be used for. There are the obvious ones like
mobile phones and PDAs. But what about adverts on packaging or books
where some of the pages are a short video clip. How about
wrapping the screen round the front of a baseball cap or on the back of
a Manchester United football teams strip? Or even as the screen is
developed further wrapped arond the ball itself.
Clearly the possibilities are endless. One blog I read said it would be
a bad thing because if the screens became cheap enough it would lead to
just another, and more intrusive form of advertising.
Whatever the outcome we think this ultra thin Sony Screen is cool!
