How To Clean Your Plasma TV
Screen.
Hi there, thanks for reading this far. If
this was
not the first site claiming to explain how to clean your plasma TV
screen that
you had to trawl through then I am not suprised. I promise this will be
the last one.
What The Plasma TV Manufacturers Say
With
laptops most manufacturers reccomend a soft lint free cloth.
This item is incredibily illusive when hunted for. But at least they
are saying something. When it comes to our beloved plasma televisions
they are totaly silent. It is almost like a conspiracy. But why? We are
not talking about national security. We just want to know how to keep
the centre piece of our room that probably cost a thousand pounds or
three, (money which they the manufacturers have) clean and
shiney.
Why Dont The Plasma TV
Manafacturers Just Supply A Cleaning Product or Reccomend One?
What is happening is the PDP(Plasma
Display Panel)
manufacturers/retailers are unwilling to take responsibility for
reccomending anything.
Soft Cloths.
A really soft cloth is what is needed. You can shop around for a really
soft cloth but the problem with most cloths that are soft is they have
a large particle size that leaves marks and even causes streaks on the
plasma screen.
Ultra Soft Microfiber Cloths Will
Work.
Very simply it is all down to the particle size. If you wipe, say a
mirror with a regular cloth then some of the marks are gone, some of
them get moved about a bit and smear and some simply stays put. The
strange thing is that it doesn't matter how hard you wipe it still has
the same effect. This is because the particle size in a regular cloth
prevents it from making contact with the mirror consistentely.
Basically if you could zoom in with a microscopic movie camera it would
be like dragging a fork through some sauce on your plate. It
doesn't matter how hard you do it you cant move the sauce in between
the prongs.
Wipe a hard surface with microfibe and it will make complete and
consistent contact withe the surface. Not only that but anything
absorbable on the surface like finger prints or a bit of a sneeze
(yuck) will be absorbed into the cloth in the same way that water is
absorbed into a regular cloth. They also wipe away regular stuff like
dust etc. Sometimes if a finger mark or something simmilar is old it
leaves a dry hard deposit and additional techniques are required to
shift it. This is often the case when you use a microfiber cleaning
cloth on a screen for the first time.
If you have a Plasma TV with a smooth and/or shiney frame or a glass TV stand
the same type of cloth will work wonders on that too. But use a
seperate cloth than the one you are using on the screen.
Techniuqes For Using A Microfibre Cloth On
A Plasma TV Screen.
For stubborn marks a very
fine water spray on the cloth (NOT THE SCREEN) will suffice.
The first time you use the micro-fibre cloth on your plasma TV screen
you might need to 'focus' on
individual marks or smears that may have been there for a long time.
Once you have your plasma screen gleaming and new a regular 'quick
wipe' will
be enough to remove all finger – grease – splash
marks and dust.
Great Tip For Top Results
Turn the plasma telivision off to create a
totally black surface. Next
position
the screen with a gentle (preferably ambient) light source shining on
it. This will show up every single speck of dust and all the
marks/smears etc. Now clean as described.
Put a tiny bit of water on it. A very fine spray or a few flicks from
your fingers with water.
The first time you use it you are battling against all the old
marks.
Just make sure to only wet the cloth(and only a little) and to remove
all moisture residue from the screen when finished.
How
To Get Rid Of Muck Around The Edge of Your Plasma TV Screen
Easy. Wrap your credit card up in the cloth. Make sure you wrap it
round several times to 'blunt' the edges. Now wipe with the covered
credit card edge from the screen edge towards the center of the plasma
screen.
Now you should be able to wipe up what was previously stuck at the
edges.
Precautions
Plasma Screens are porous this means that if
you
leave a single drop of moisure on it, it might absorb into the screen
leaving an unsightly mark or marks.
Never, Never, Never, Never leave
Any Residual Moisture On
Screen & never use your
cloth when it is dirty. Wash it using the manufacturers instructions or
thow it away and get another one.
